Meet Richard Craig
Richard studied clarinet and composition at the Sydney Conservatorium, graduating as Student of the Year and did postgraduate study at the University of York in the UK, then established himself as a freelance clarinettist and saxophonist in London and the south of England.
Richard was trained as an instrument repairer at the world famous woodwind maker TW Howarth and Co, repairing in their London showrooms and later finishing new instruments for their factory in Worthing.

I do high quality repairs at a reasonable rate on clarinets, oboes, bassoons and saxophones. My wife Celia Craig and I are both accomplished professional players, so when I hand an instrument back to the customer, I know that it’s set up and fine tuned to the highest professional standards so that it remains totally reliable.

Our oboe hire scheme has been so popular that we are extending it to include bassoon and tenoroon (aka mini bassoon or fagottino!) All instruments are in as new condition and come fully serviced. Ongoing service and maintenance is included in the hire fee. The Howarth Junior Oboe and Tenoroon are perfect for getting Primary School kids an early start.
When they’re ready, they can move up to full-sized instruments with the Howarth S20c and S40c Oboes and the new Moosmann Academy Bassoon, all exclusive to Richard Craig Woodwind.
