Morton was reputed to be a bassoon maker looked upon as the true successor to the great French maker Savary. This instrument is stamped with ‘A.Morton and Sons’ dating between 1880 – 1885. 19 unplated nickel silver keys. The woodwork and keywork is in good condition. The instrument is currently playable but needs full restoration to bring it up to professional playing standard. At the moment it plays sharper in the left hand notes than the right hand, which leads me to believe that with new pads and a longer bocal, it will play comfortably at A440.
